When it happens, it happens all of the sudden. She's scrubbing the bar and when she looks up, she knows that she's in the wrong place completely. Last thing she remembers, she was setting up her station at the Burnt Toast diner, and now here she is. There's a little girl playing on the floor and a wedding ring on her finger and, somewhere in the back, there's delta blues playing.

Charlie Andrews does what most people would.
She drops the cloth in her hand and she screams.

According to the rota that's hanging behind the bar, it's Jon that she's waiting on. Not that he's late or anything, but, more and more, Charlie finds that she's coming to depend on the boys she's got working for her. She just feels better when one of them's in the building.

Cadi's at the children's office for the morning, which means Charlie's got her hands free to do a proper clean of the bar before she opens. She's got her hair wrapped up and her iPod's hooked up and playing music that'd be good for dancing.

She's in a good mood today.
Long may it last.

The doors are closed and locked and it's just the two of them, a bowl of soapy water ont he bar. Charlie's stopped before cleaning, sat down on a stool with her shoes kicked off and her chin cradled in her hand. She's pulled the pins out of her hair and it's tumbled around her face. Cadi's with Geoffrey so she knows that she can relax. She arches an eyebrow.

"Okay, let's start easy," she says. "Screwdriver, please."
